SAN AGUSTIN CHURCH

June, September and October are the most popular months to get married not just because of the good weather but also because of the superstitions. San Agustin Church is one of the most popular church when it comes to weddings and ceremonies. It is also popular because of its beautiful baroque style arts and paintings in the ceiling and walls – the trompe l’oeil ceilings; the monastery.

Let me give you a tour and a brief history about San Agustin Church.


San Agustin Church was founded on 1720. It is the first church that was built by the Spaniards in Luzon. The church was destroyed trice and they decided to rebuild it using stones later on. It was the only building left after the destruction of Intramuros in Word War II. This church also experienced 7 earthquakes and some battles in Manila yet it still is one of the sturdiest church nowadays. It is also known as the survival church of the Philippines. It is located in General Luna St, Manila, Metro Manila or commonly known as Intramuros, Manila.

San Agustin Church is not just about the historical church built years ago. It also showcases a museum, Sala De La Capitulacion, Sacristy, Crypt and some halls.

San Agustin Museum is located beside the San Agustin Church in Intramuros, Manila. The museum gives you a glimpse of the past, this is a two stories with four hallways you will found in the ground floor are the ff:


Sala De La Capitulacion In here you will see the church artefacts, statues and other bits and pieces.

Sacristy More statues and paintings, including an alter with 22 gold niches made in 1650. Refactory - Sala Profundis/Crypt This were the priest use to take meals. Now it is a mausoleum.


San Pablo Hall

The first room you will see as you reach the first floor are more paintings and a scaled model of the san Agustin Church & Museum. San Agustin Hall In this room you will see an interesting photos/pictures of churches built by the Augustinians. Porcelain Room

In here, you will see the collection of artefacts from the Chinese.
