I’ve met a lot of people who haven’t heard of Masbate. Truth to be told, every time I mention that I’m from Masbate the conversation automatically becomes a guessing game. Due to insistent public demand, I am going to introduce Masbate in a whole new level.
Masbate is famous for being the Rodeo Capital of the Philippines. It is located at the heart of the Philippine Archipelago which makes it hard for people to distinguish if it is still part of Luzon or is it already part of Visayas. Contrary to what people think, Masbate is not just about cowboys, cattle, horses, and rolling hills. Masbate also has islands, beaches, mountains, and even waterfalls too. What are you waiting for? Come and join me as I share my wonderful experience in my province, MASBATE.
When people are planning for a vacation they always tend to choose beaches as their destinations. Beaches are too mainstream that people are looking for a change. What if I tell you that you can put a twist on your next getaway? Let me introduce to you Catandayagan Falls.
There are many astonishing waterfalls in the Philippines. Each of them is different from one another. I’ve seen many of them but nothing compares to the unique and amazing Catandayagan Falls. It is situated in the town of San Jacinto at the western side of Ticao Island, one of the three major islands that form Masbate. Catandayagan Falls is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Masbate. It is famous for its breathtaking, remarkable, and inimitable sight.
Accessible by boat, Catandayagan Falls can be reached by riding a one-hour boat ride from the port of Masbate City. As the boat is traversing the cerulean blue sea, tourists can enjoy watching the landscape of Masbate as the boat passes by the islets. Upon arrival at Ticao Island, tourists can enjoy the cool water of Catandayagan Falls by having the boat docked right below the waterfalls. The unending flow of water that comes from the falls can be appreciated by the tourists as they stay under the gushing water from up above.
What makes Catandayagan Falls a rare and exceptional kind of waterfalls is the fact that the water that is coming down from the top of the mountain empties straight into the sea. The falls is towering at around 100 feet and it would probably be the first time you’ll witness a waterfall that goes directly to the open sea. Unfortunately, I have visited Catandayagan Falls during summer. The water falling from the falls is not that strong. Overall, it is quite a remarkable sight to behold making Catandayagan Falls a must-visit destination when traveling to Masbate.
If you want to visit Catandayagan Falls, you may drop by at the City Tourism Office in Masbate City. They will assist you in arranging your island hopping adventure in Ticao Island. For any questions and inquiries, feel free to contact us here.
