Being the capital municipality of Pangasinan, Lingayen is known for being the center of local governance of the whole province of Pangasinan. Nestled in here is the iconic government edifice called “Pangasinan Provincial Capitol”, which was built in 1918 and designed by American architect Rakph Harrington Doane. The edifice compound greatly represents the architectural state during the American regime. In 2006, the Capitol was named one of the eight architectural treasures of the Philippines by National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA). Aside from its iconic government structures, Lingayen is noted for its historical landmarks such as the Lingayen Landing Gulf Mark, as Lingayen Gulf was a strategically important theatre of war between American and Japanese forces. Lingayen is also home to remarkable landmarks in the Philippine arts scene, such as the Urduja House, Bengson-Yuson Ancestral House and Sison Auditorium. The bocayo and bagoong industries are also well-celebrated in the municipality of Lingayen. If you want to be among the first few people to experience what it has to offer, now is definitely the best time to visit. Especially for those travelers who love historical or antique places, this place is for you. And will assure you that every place is worth to visit.
